ALF’s
chapters build bridges connecting patients to health care providers
and services. Chapters have done much to enrich the lives of people
with liver disease and help their families.
The
Mid-South Chapter creates and conducts educational workshops and
seminars, offers support groups, works with local media and community
groups to increase awareness of liver disease. The Chapter meets
with local, state and federal policy makers to initiate positive
change, and sponsors numerous fundraising events. We build bridges
connecting patients to health care providers and services.
In the Mid-South approximately 200,000 individuals are infected
with hepatitis or other liver disease. We have one of the nation’s
highest incidences of hepatitis A cases. The waiting list for
liver donors has tripled in the last five years.
The
Mid-South Chapter derives its support from the generosity of
private and corporate contributions through direct donations,
memorials and honorariums, sponsorships and participation in special
events hosted by the chapter each year.
The
Mid-South Chapter is governed by a local volunteer Board of Directors,
each elected to a minimum 2 year term in office
